Sarita Gous, a lifelong artist, grew up under the influence of her artist mother, learning mostly through observing hundreds of artworks come into being and by creating her own artworks from a young age. Through this solid foundation she has established her own unique style that is rich with colour and movement.
She took art as a subject throughout high school and furthered her studies at the AAA School of Advertising. After working in London for graphic and interior designers and in Cape Town for communication companies, she returned back to her easel with great joy. At the age of 30 she started her professional art career. She not only paints herself but shares her love for art by teaching primary and high school children and helping them to develop their own creative style.
Living and growing up on the Highveld (Mpumalanga) she draws endless inspiration from the magnificent landscapes and skies. Her love for nature and animals can clearly be seen in all her works. She mainly does large commission works that is sought after by local and international clients. Her medium of choice is oil paint, and she finds the fluidity, movement and freedom that it provides perfect for creating her artworks.
"When I create a painting, I find perfect balance in surrendering to the creative process and controlling my medium through knowledge and understanding. This is where the magic happens!"
